Attack on Nova Kakhovka dam and future reconstruction of Ukraine
In a debate at 9.00, plenary will assess with Commissioner Dombrovskis and Swedish Minister Roswall the humanitarian and environmental consequences of the attack on the Nova Kakhovka dam in southern Ukraine. MEPs will also discuss the necessary efforts to rebuild the country after the Russian war of aggression and support its integration into the Euro-Atlantic community. They will vote on a resolution on rebuilding Ukraine on Thursday.

Artificial intelligence rules aligned with EU values
Around 13.00, immediately after the voting session, MEPs will discuss with Commissioners Vestager and Breton a proposal for a new set of landmark rules to mitigate the risks of artificial intelligence (AI) and promote its ethical use. On Wednesday, Parliament will adopt its negotiating position ahead of discussions with the Council on the final form of the legislation, with a press conference after the vote.

More durable and sustainable batteries for a successful green transition
Starting around 19.00, Parliament will debate with Commissioner Sinkevičius a new law on the design, production and waste management of batteries in the EU, to ensure they are more sustainable, more durable and better-performing. Plenary is set to give its final green light to the rules on Wednesday, already agreed with member states.

Update of the EU electoral law: state of play
In a debate with Commissioner Jourová and Swedish Minister Roswall around 20.00, plenary will consider the latest developments in negotiations to update the rules for European elections. Parliament tabled its proposal –which includes transnational voting lists, as well as common rules and ballot dates – in 2022.

In brief
“This is Europe” debate with Cyprus’ President Christodoulides. At 10.30, Cyprus’ President Nikos Christodoulides will present to plenary his views on Europe’s challenges and future and exchange views with MEPs. A press point by Presidents Metsola and Christodoulides will take place at 10.20.
Josep Borrell on foreign affairs: Armenia-Azerbaijan, Lebanon, Cuba. In a series of debates from 15.00, MEPs will discuss Nagorno-Karabakh, Lebanon and Cuba with the EU’s diplomacy chief. They will also debate Nicaragua and vote on a resolution on Thursday; a vote on Lebanon will take place in July.
Food security and resilient EU agriculture. Around 21.00, plenary will look into the challenges to ensure Europe’s food security and its strategic autonomy, in a debate with Commissioner Wojciechowski. A resolution with MEPs’ proposals will be put to a vote in plenary on Wednesday.
