    A long-term solution for Ukraine’s funding needs

    After the opening, Parliament will debate with Commissioner Hahn the proposal for a new €50 billion facility to support Ukraine’s recovery, reconstruction and modernisation from 2024 to 2027. MEPs are pushing for a quick deal, since there are currently no funds available to help Ukraine from 2024. The vote on MEPs’ position for negotiations with Council will take place on Tuesday.

    Up to €160 billion for investment projects in strategic sectors

    Starting around 18.15, MEPs will discuss with Commissioner Hahn the new “Strategic Technologies for Europe Platform” (STEP) to boost digital, net-zero and biotechnologies, address labour and skill shortages, and support innovation. Plenary will adopt its negotiating position, ahead of talks with the Council, on Tuesday.

    New fisheries control rules to ensure traceability and similar sanctions across the EU

    The overhaul of the EU fisheries control rules will be the focus of a plenary debate with Commissioner Hahn around 19.30. Under the new law, all fishing activities carried out by EU vessels will be tracked, including with CCTV cameras in many cases, and all their catches will have to be reported electronically. MEPs are set to give their final green light to the rules on Tuesday.

    Banning products made using forced labour: committee vote

    From 19.00, MEPs sitting on the International Trade and Internal Market committees will vote on a proposal to prevent products made by people forced into labour from entering the EU market.

    MEPs to call for measures against Chinese illegal fishing. Later in the evening, MEPs will discuss how the EU can respond to illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing in international waters by Chinese vessels. A resolution will be put to the vote on Tuesday.
