At the end of August 2024, the federal government’s debt amounted to 538.166 billion euros. The federal government’s debt has increased by 16.30 billion euros since July.
In net terms (after deduction of investments and securities in the portfolio), the federal government’s debt increased by 5.00 billion euros, to stand at 501.261 billion euros.
The net balance to be financed amounted to 5.00 billion euros (to the detriment of the Treasury).

The average duration of federal government debt fell by 0.18 years to 10.62 years, while the average interest rate on debt instruments increased to 1.98 %. The refinancing risks at 12 and 60 months were 14.13% and 38.10%, respectively.
