SIX Swiss Exchange expands active ETF offering as Columbia Threadneedle lists multicurrency equity funds for European and U.S. markets
(IN BRIEF) SIX Swiss Exchange has added Columbia Threadneedle Investments as its newest ETF issuer, marking the launch of two actively managed equity ETFs with multicurrency trading options. The funds provide long-term exposure to European and U.S. equities, committing at least 80% of assets to companies within their core universes and applying Columbia Threadneedle’s active management framework with reference to the MSCI Europe and Russell 1000 indices. With these listings, SIX now hosts 35 ETF issuers and 2,100 ETFs, including a record number of new active ETF listings this year. Columbia Threadneedle’s Eva Maria Hintner highlighted the need for active strategies that mitigate concentration risks and provide stronger risk-adjusted outcomes, while SIX’s Danielle Reischuk noted that the new issuer strengthens one of Europe’s most diverse ETF marketplaces. Columbia Threadneedle manages over $675 billion globally, supported by 2,300 staff and 550 investment professionals.
(PRESS RELEASE) ZURICH, 3-Dec-2025 — /EuropaWire/ — SIX Swiss Exchange has welcomed Columbia Threadneedle Investments as its newest ETF issuer, further broadening the range of active investment strategies available to Swiss and international investors. With this debut, the global asset manager has listed two actively managed equity ETFs—each offered in dual-currency formats—giving investors new options for long-term exposure to European and U.S. equity markets.
The new funds are designed to provide diversified access to listed equities and equity-related securities in their respective regions. Both ETFs follow an approach that commits at least 80% of assets to companies within their core universes: European markets for the Europe-focused fund and U.S. markets for the other. While managed with reference to the MSCI Europe Index and the Russell 1000 Index, the ETFs apply Columbia Threadneedle’s fully active investment process, enabling selection beyond index weights and avoiding concentration risks often seen in large benchmarks.
Their arrival reinforces the continued dynamism of the SIX ETF marketplace. With their addition, 35 ETF issuers now list products on the exchange, contributing to a total of 2,100 ETFs—one of the most extensive ranges in Europe. This year alone, SIX has added 298 newly listed ETFs, including 111 actively managed strategies, representing the strongest wave of active ETF introductions in eight years.
Eva Maria Hintner, Country Head Switzerland at Columbia Threadneedle Investments, said that today’s market conditions call for solutions that go beyond conventional indexing. “Investors want robust returns after costs, meaningful downside protection and lower concentration risk. By listing on SIX, we can offer Swiss clients true active management within an ETF structure—solutions designed to act as core building blocks in a portfolio while drawing on our proprietary global research.”
Danielle Reischuk, Senior ETFs & ETPs Sales Manager at SIX Swiss Exchange, welcomed the new issuer. “Columbia Threadneedle’s arrival enhances the diversity of actively managed ETFs available on our platform. The strength of new listings this year underscores our role as a resilient and efficient venue for ETF issuers and investors worldwide.”
Columbia Threadneedle manages more than $675 billion in assets for clients across the globe, supported by a network of around 2,300 employees, including 550 investment professionals based across North America, Europe and Asia. The firm’s investment philosophy relies on original research, responsible investment principles and continuous improvement to deliver better outcomes for clients.
