Shortly after the opening bell, we will be buying 120 shares of Intel at roughly $124 each. Intel shares fell roughly 14% in back-to-back losses last Wednesday and Thursday as investors took profits across many of this year’s leading chip stocks. The stock is indicated a few percent higher in premarket trading, and we’re picking up some shares to bring our position size closer to 3%. INTC 5D mountain Intel 5-day performance Reports that Meta Platforms plans to sell excess AI compute capacity have fueled concerns that the AI capital expenditure (capex) cycle may be peaking. However, we do not think that is the case. Intel’s decision to raise prices on some consumer and server central processing units (CPUs), confirmed on Friday, suggests demand remains stronger than supply, with the market likely to remain supply constrained for some time. Furthermore, we remain bullish on the long-term potential of the foundry business, which is the logical winner of customers looking for alternatives to Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) for their chip manufacturing and packaging.
