Final vote on new EU nature restoration law
MEPs will decide at noon whether to give their final green light to restoring at least 20% of the EU’s land and sea areas by 2030 and all ecosystems by 2050, as agreed by Parliament and Council negotiators.

EU budget reform: financial support to Ukraine and investment on strategic sectors
Following a debate with Commissioner Hahn and Belgian Secretary of State Michel on behalf of the Council Presidency from 9.00, Parliament is set to endorse at noon a revamp of the EU’s long-term budget, including an additional €50 billion aid package to Ukraine and the new “Strategic Technologies for Europe Platform” (STEP) to support key European sectors. Lead MEPs will hold a press conference at 13.00.

New legislation to protect journalists and activists from judicial harassment
Plenary is expected to approve at noon new EU rules to protect journalists and activists from abusive lawsuits (so called SLAPPs) aimed at silencing them. A press conference with the rapporteur will take at 15.00.

New list of environmental crimes and related sanctions
Following Monday’s debate, Parliament will vote at noon on new rules to protect the environment in the EU through criminal law. Legislation includes an updated list of environmental crimes including illegal timber trade, depletion of water resources and breaches of EU chemicals legislation, as well as sanctions for perpetrators. There will be a press conference with the rapporteur at 14.00.

Proposed changes of EU rules on driving licenses
From around 10.45, MEPs will discuss with Commission Vice-President Šuica draft legislation to improve road safety, introducing mobile licences and mandatory health checks for issuing and renewing driving licenses. Plenary will vote on Parliament’s position on Wednesday. The new Parliament will follow up on the file after the 6-9 June European elections.

In brief
Latest developments of the war in Gaza. From 15.00, plenary will assess the latest developments in the war in Gaza and the need to reach a ceasefire, in a debate with EU diplomacy chief Josep Borrell.
Geographical indications on wine, spirits and food products. As of 14.00, MEPs will review with Commissioner McGuinness a provisional deal with Council to update EU rules to protect quality agricultural products. The final vote on the legislation will take place on Wednesday.
Spying on MEPs. In the evening, plenary will discuss with Commission and Council representatives the latest revelations of spying on MEPs and the lack of follow-up on the Parliament’s recommendations in this regard.
Votes
Between 12.00 and 13.00, MEPs will also vote on:
- legislation on political advertisement;
- new EU rules for trans-border shipments of waste;
- a reform of the EU Court of Justice statute, and
- the 2023 annual report on the European Central Bank’s activities.
