    Key debate on the results of the latest EU summits


    From 9.00, MEPs will review with Commission President von der Leyen the results of the most recent EU summits, in particular last week’s Special European Council focused on Europe’s competitiveness. The EU’s support to Ukraine, the latest Israeli operations in Gaza and the recent Iranian attack on Israel are also likely to be raised in the discussion.

    Final vote on the new “right to repair” for European consumers


    Following Monday’s plenary debate, MEPs are set to give their final green light at noon to new rules promoting the repair of goods, within and beyond the legal guarantee period, resulting in sustainable consumption and reducing costs from new purchases. A press conference with the rapporteur will take place at 14.30.

    Update of the EU’s fiscal rules


    From around 10.30, MEPs will discuss with Commission Executive Vice-President Dombrovskis the agreed overhaul of the EU fiscal framework, aimed at encouraging countries to commit to national reforms and increase investment, particularly in the green and digital transitions, while reducing their debt. A vote on the three legislative acts will follow at noon.

    First ever EU law to fight violence against women


    Immediately after the voting session, around 13.00, MEPs will discuss with Commission Vice-President Jourová and Commissioner Dalli the draft rules to prevent rape and raise awareness on consent, and criminalise at EU level female genital mutilation and forced marriage. The final vote on the legislation will take place on Wednesday.

    Israeli attacks on civilians in Gaza


    Starting at 15.00, MEPs will debate with EU Foreign Policy Chief Borrell the EU’s response to the continuous killing of humanitarian aid workers, journalists and civilians by the Israel Defence Forces in the Gaza Strip.

    In brief

    EU Disability card. From around 14.00, plenary will review with Commissioner Dalli draft legislation to ensure people with disabilities benefit from the same preference rights when travelling around EU countries. The final vote will take place on Wednesday.

    Frozen Russian assets. At around 16.00, MEPs will quiz EU Foreign Policy Chief Borrell on the EU’s efforts to confiscate frozen Russian assets and use them to fund war-torn Ukraine’s victory and reconstruction.

    EU’s withdrawal from the Energy Charter Treaty. From around 19.00, plenary will discuss with Commissioner Simson whether the EU should withdraw from the treaty, considered as hampering the climate transition. Parliament is expected to back the move in a vote on Wednesday.

    Votes

    Between 12.00 and 13.00, MEPs will hold votes, among other things, on:

    • The temporary extension of trade support measures for Ukrainian products;
    • Prohibiting products made with forced labour on the Union market;
    • A new Gigabit Infrastructure Act;
    • A new Eco-design regulation;
    • Rules to combat late payment in commercial transactions;
    • Measures to prevent plastic pellet losses;
    • A review of the CAP regulation on good agricultural and environmental condition (GAEC1);
    • The transfer of proceedings in criminal matters:
    • The European Council and Council 2022 discharge;
    • The appointment of a Member of the Single Resolution Board, and
    • Visa fees.
