(PRESS RELEASE) DORNBIRN, 30-Sep-2024 — /EuropaWire/ — Munich’s iconic Olympic Park is set to welcome a new landmark with the completion of SAP Garden, a state-of-the-art sports and event venue. Boasting a unique asymmetrical design and capacity for 11,500 spectators, the arena will become home to two German champion teams, including the EHC Red Bull München ice hockey team, starting from late summer 2024. The venue, designed by Danish architects 3XN with landscape architects Latz + Partner, embodies the spirit of the 1972 Olympic Games with its organic design and green roof, blending seamlessly into the surrounding park landscape.

Red Bull Stadion GmbH has partnered with lighting specialists Thorn and Zumtobel, part of the Zumtobel Group, to create a lighting concept that enhances the venue’s dynamic façade and interior spaces, ensuring an immersive experience for visitors. From fan stores and team cabins to wellness zones and conference areas, Zumtobel’s lighting tools deliver ambiance and functionality throughout. Meanwhile, Thorn’s portfolio covers the site’s outdoor areas, providing street, walkway, and roof terrace illumination.

The SAP Garden is a modern venue that combines sports with world-class events, reflecting Red Bull’s emphasis on merging athleticism with entertainment. The lighting solutions play a crucial role in enhancing this brand experience.

The arena, which includes three additional ice rinks for training and recreational use, officially opened on 27 September 2024 with a highly anticipated match between EHC Red Bull München and the Buffalo Sabres from the NHL.
