(PRESS RELEASE) MADRID, 23-Nov-2024 — /EuropaWire/ — Getnet, Santander’s premier global provider of payment solutions for merchants, has announced the appointment of Juan Franco as its new global CEO. Franco will assume his new role shortly, bringing extensive expertise in fintech and global payment systems. This leadership transition follows Kush Saxena’s decision to step down as CEO for personal reasons; Saxena will remain with the company as an advisor to the board and chairman of Getnet’s Mexican tech partner, MIT.
Franco joins Getnet from Canadian fintech giant Nuvei, where he served as Senior Vice President for the Asia-Pacific region. With over a decade of experience as CEO and co-founder of Paymentez, a prominent online payment platform in Latin America later acquired by Nuvei, Franco has a proven track record in scaling payment solutions across diverse markets. His earlier career includes senior roles at VMware and Salesforce in Latin America. Franco holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Universidad del Rosario in Colombia and will be based in Madrid.
Kush Saxena’s tenure as Getnet CEO saw remarkable growth, including a doubling of the company’s total payment volume to over €200 billion annually, serving 1.3 million merchants globally. Saxena will now focus on advising the board and steering strategic projects globally for Getnet.
Ana Botín, executive chair of Santander and PagoNxt, expressed her gratitude for Saxena’s contributions and welcomed Franco’s leadership:
“Juan Franco’s appointment marks an exciting new chapter for Getnet. The payments business remains a fast-growing segment, and we are committed to further expanding PagoNxt, including Getnet, to achieve continued double-digit revenue growth. Under Juan’s leadership, we will advance innovative customer solutions, like our multi-market e-commerce payment platform recently launched in Brazil, Argentina, Mexico, and Chile. We thank Kush for his pivotal role in driving our success and look forward to his ongoing contributions in his advisory capacity.”
This transition underscores Getnet’s dedication to leveraging its global network and cutting-edge technology to drive growth and innovation across its payments business.
