Vote on the Nature Restoration law

Protecting democratic institutions and Parliament’s integrity
In the early evening, MEPs will debate with Commission Vice-President Jourová the reforms proposed by the Special Committee on Foreign Interference calling for more effective monitoring and surveillance systems to detect foreign interference in Parliament’s activity as well as for more transparency, integrity and accountability. Ahead of the plenary discussion, there will a press conference with lead MEPs, at 15.30. The vote will take place on Thursday.

Search and rescue in the Mediterranean
From around 10.30, MEPs will debate with Commissioner Johansson and Spanish deputy Minister Navarro the need for EU action on search and rescue in the Mediterranean. A resolution will be put to the vote on Thursday.

Press conference on protecting journalists and activists from abusive lawsuits at 10.00
Following yesterday’s vote, EP President Roberta Metsola and rapporteur Tiemo Wölken will hold a press conference at 10.00 on Parliament’s position on the directive to protect journalists and human rights defenders from manifestly unfounded or abusive court proceedings. More information here.

In brief
June EU summit. From 9.00, MEPs will assess the outcome of the 29 – 30 June European Council, in particular the recent developments in Ukraine and Russia.
Green Deal. In the late afternoon, MEPs will debate with Commissioner Timmermans the EU’s international commitments and the risks of compromising the EU’s green transition.
Human Rights. In the evening, plenary will discuss with Commissioner McGuinness the political disqualifications in Venezuela; India, and the situation in Manipur; and the crackdown on the media and freedom of expression in Kyrgyzstan. Resolutions will be put to a vote on Thursday.
Tax the rich: topical debate. Immediately after the votes, around 13.30, plenary will discuss with Commissioner Gentiloni and Spanish deputy Minister Navarro about taxation policies across the EU.

From 12.00 to 13.00, MEPs will vote, among other things, on
- the final report by Parliament’s Special Committee on lessons learned from the COVID-19 pandemic;
- the new Ecodesign regulation;
- the establishment of the EU Ethics Body;
- a resolution on Bulgaria’s and Romania’s access to the Schengen area;
- relations with the Palestinian Authority;
- the 2022 enlargement reports on Bosnia and Herzegovina, and on Albania; and on
- the situation in Lebanon.
